We care about you at Snatched Body, and want you to keep these meal recommendations in mind.
Plastic surgery is a lot for the body to go through. Anytime you make an incision, it takes a toll on the person and they are required to get plenty of rest, hydrate sufficiently, and eat healthy foods in order to heal properly. Plastic surgery is no different.
There are certain foods that everyone should eat post-surgery and there are certain foods that everyone should stay far, far away from. Snatched Body is here to make sure you know exactly how important it is to take care of yourself post-surgery, so you can get the best results possible.
All of the Post-Op Nutrition Facts You Need
The post-op plastic surgery journey is difficult enough, don’t make it harder on yourself because you aren’t eating the way your doctor recommended you to.
Post-plastic surgery, doctors recommend things like:
- Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water every day.
- Eat mainly leafy greens, fruit, and lean protein. Carbs and sugar.
- Eat several small meals throughout the day.
- Don’t overdo it on the caloric intake.
- Small amounts of low-fat protein with each meal and snack are recommended.
When your body has just undergone a traumatic surgery like that of nearly any plastic surgery procedure, it is crucial that you take care of what your body needs. The healing process is perhaps the most important part of the entire procedure and without it, you could find yourself with not only compromised plastic surgery results, but a compromised health condition as well.
The Risks of Not Following Nutritional Guidelines
There are certain risks involved when someone doesn’t follow the nutritional guidelines set out for them by their doctor.
These risks include:
- A compromised immune system while you heal.
- High blood glucose levels.
- Constant constipation.
- Longer healing incisions.
- Long-lasting swelling and scar tissue build-up.
- Bumpy results.
Eating foods that are hard to digest, don’t have any nutritional value, and won’t fuel your body, are foods that should be avoided post plastic surgery. Your body will already be inflamed enough, let’s not make it worse by not eating enough or eating the wrong thing. Regardless of the surgery you have, you will always need the proper food and rest to recover from the traumatic event.
Foods to Try
All types of lean meat and healthy proteins are the number one foods to eat. So, things like cottage chicken, turkey, beans/legumes, all types of nuts and seeds, rice, rolled oatmeal, peanut butter, and protein powders.
You also want to stay away from processed sugars and carbs and only stick to whole grains. However, restricting your diet of carbs as much as possible is the number one recommendation.
Patients should consider making smoothies packed with fruit, veggies, and protein, as well as salads, granola, and other raw foods to ensure they have enough natural enzymes in their gut to help with digestion post-surgery.
High-fiber meals before bed are also recommended. Anything that will make digestion difficult should be avoided until you are completely healed.
Keep these things in mind as you go into your procedure. It’s not just about the prep-work and having the procedure done. The recovery process is just as important, if not more important than any other stage.
